Tamara Murphy
Chef Tamara Murphy was a champion for our mission at the Neighborhood Farmers Markets. She is a vital part of our story.
In the early 90’s, Tamara developed groundbreaking relationships with local farmers and producers and put Seattle on the map for Northwest regional cuisine. From hosting cooking demonstrations to introducing new chefs to the value of sourcing local food, Tamara created endless connections to the farmers markets. In 2005, her vision established the Good Farmer Fund, which has helped hundreds of small producers recover from emergencies by providing financial relief. Many of the photos below were taken at An Incredible Feast, a fundraiser for the Good Farmer Fund. Tamara passed away suddenly on August 10, 2024. We will be forever grateful for her relentless commitment to highlighting local producers, her vision, and especially for her friendship.
